As part of the ongoing work to rehabilitate the lower level roadway of the Henry Hudson Bridge, overnight (technically early morning) lower level full closures will be necessary to accommodate a large installation project. Southbound (to Manhattan) closures will start at 12:01 a.m. June 04 and take place nightly from 12:01 a.m. to 05:00 a.m., through early morning June 14. There will be no closures on Sunday nights and there will be no impact to the northbound roadway. A detour will be in place to route drivers around this closure.

Southbound traffic will be detoured onto Kappock Street at Exit 18, and motorists will follow detour via local streets to the Broadway Bridge. Motorists will then re-enter the South bound Henry Hudson Parkway at exit 17, Dyckman Street.

This work is part of the previously announced $86 million project to replace the last remaining sections of the 1930s era roadway deck. A signature part of this project is the removal of columns and toll islands from the old toll plaza on the lower level roadway, which will improve traffic flow and allow for a smoother ride across the bridge.

Motorists should allow for additional travel time or choose an alternate route.

Motorists can sign up for MTA e-mail or text alerts here and check the Bridges and Tunnels homepage or Facebook page for the latest information.
