Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) today announced that it has teamed up with NBC 4 New York / WNBC and Telemundo 47 / WNJU host NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations’ Clear the Shelters second annual nationwide pet adoption drive.

ACC will offer the public fee-waived adoptions on Saturday, July 23, as part of the nationwide Clear the Shelters initiative that seeks to find new homes for homeless pets.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity once again for our animals and our organization to get the kind of exposure NBC and Telemundo can provide,” said Risa Weinstock, ACC Executive Director. “Last year we had a record number of adoptions and we expect even more this year. The more New Yorkers who know about ACC and the wonderful cats, dogs and rabbits we have available for adoption, the better chance they have of finding homes. Clear the Shelters is a great way for the community to come together and make a difference for animals in NYC.”

This year’s Clear the Shelters event comes after last year’s highly successful inaugural effort, which resulted in nearly 20,000 pets finding new homes through an unprecedented partnership between the NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations and hundreds of animal shelters located all across the country and in Puerto Rico. The nationwide day of action literally emptied dozens of animal shelters across the country and inspired local communities to take action and open their homes to animals in need.

During the one-day event ACC will waive adoption fees. Adoptions include vaccinations, a microchip, spay/neuter, a free office visit at a participating veterinarian and a free identification tag.

ACC will be open for adoptions from 10:00 a.m. – 06:00 p.m. on July 23rd:

Manhattan – 326 E. 110th Street
Brooklyn – 2336 Linden Boulevard
Staten Island – 3139 Veterans Road West

Animals available for adoption can be viewed online here, or on ACC’s free mobile app (available on Google Play and iTunes).

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: DUE TO SPACE CONTRAINTS AND ANTICIPATED HOT WEATHER WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT POTENTIAL ADOPTERS LIMIT THE NUMBER OF EXTRA GUESTS THEY PLAN TO BRING TO THE EVENT.
