On Saturday, April 27, 2019, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. attended the grand opening of The Lit. Bar, an independent bookstore and cafe in Mott Haven. The ribbon-cutting took place on National Independent Bookstore Day.

Founder Noelle Santos resides in South Bronx and was inspired to open The Lit. Bar when the only commercial bookstore in Bronx, Barnes & Noble, closed in 2016.

“All of The Bronx is behind The Lit. Bar and we are so proud to have this store in our borough. Now it’s up to the community to come out in support of this venture and to show the world how Bronx values its local businesses,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. “The excitement around The Lit. Bar will inspire others to invest in Bronx because there is so much to offer here.”
