This Thanksgiving, FreshDirect, the leading online grocer, and City Harvest, New York’s first and largest food rescue organization, continue their ongoing partnership to organize Share the Harvest, a food donation event in support of Bronx neighbors and the local community.

Share the Harvest takes place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the FreshDirect headquarters and warehouse, located at 2 St. Ann’s Avenue, Bronx, NY 10454. This event marks the eighth time FreshDirect and City Harvest have worked together to address food insecurity in the local community around the holiday season. Vanessa Gibson, Bronx Borough President will be in attendance, in addition to Slick Rick, a local Bronx personality and longtime FreshDirect supporter.

At Share the Harvest, FreshDirect and City Harvest will provide:

  • 700 FreshDirect packaged turkeys each accompanied by a container of gravy and cranberry sauce;
  • 700 bags of produce from City Harvest;
  • refreshments provided by FreshDirect.

“At FreshDirect, our mission goes beyond delivering groceries, it is about supporting the communities we call home,” said Turancan Salur, President, FreshDirect. “Through our long-standing partnership with City Harvest, we help provide fresh, nourishing meals to families across New York City, especially during the holidays. Our Bronx headquarters are at the heart of these efforts, and we are proud to stand with our neighbors in giving back.”

FreshDirect has partnered with City Harvest since 2003, donating over 37.4 million pounds of food to the organization, and is committed to continuing to support the organization through events, collaborations, partnerships and more. Most recently, FreshDirect partnered with luxury brand Monse to create a signature FreshDirect grocery bag with designer Laura Kim, with all proceeds going directly to City Harvest.

“Our continued partnership with FreshDirect exemplifies the best of community collaboration: bringing fresh, nutritious food directly to our neighbors in need. FreshDirect’s longstanding commitment to City Harvest goes beyond Thanksgiving, as they work with us year-round to ensure New Yorkers have the food they need to thrive,” said Jilly Stephens, Chief Executive Officer of City Harvest. “This support is more critical than ever, with visits to New York City soup kitchens and food pantries currently at a record high. Thanksgiving can be particularly challenging for New Yorkers who struggle to make ends meet, and the turkeys, produce, and holiday staples we are distributing together will help hundreds of New York City families put food on the table this year.”

Aboit City Harvest

City Harvest is New York City’s first and largest food rescue organization. We rescue nutritious, high-quality food that would otherwise go to waste and deliver it for free to hundreds of food pantries, soup kitchens, community partners, and our own Mobile Markets® across the five boroughs. In response to the urgent and ongoing demand for food assistance and a commitment to sustainability, this year we will rescue more than 86 million pounds of food and deliver it to New Yorkers experiencing food insecurity. With deep connections to the communities where we work and with a focus on localized investment, City Harvest is dedicated to strengthening our network of agency partners and the local food system through capacity building, advocacy, and nutrition education. Through our food rescue model, we support environmental health—this year, we will prevent the equivalent of more than 25.4 million kilograms of CO2 from entering the atmosphere—while providing New Yorkers with the food they need to thrive. City Harvest is recognized as a leading equity-driven organization and has been named one of America’s Top 100 Charities by Forbes. Since our founding in 1982, we have rescued more than one billion pounds of food and provided it for free to our neighbors in need.
