On Wednesday, April 01, 2020, at approximately 2140 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a person shot opposite of 1561 Sheridan Avenue, within the confines of the 44th Precinct in the Bronx.
Pursuant to the investigation, officers discovered the 52-year-old male victim at BronxCare Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his torso.
The victim was transported to the medical center prior to police arrival via private means, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.
Following proper family notification, the deceased has been identified as follows.

The following 51-year-old male individual has been arrested in regard to this homicide.

Edwin Mitel
1520 Sheridan Avenue
Bronx, NY 10457
Charges:
- murder;
- manslaughter;
- criminal possession of a weapon.
The investigation remains ongoing.
All charges are merely accusations and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
