Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein (CHAM) celebrated pediatric cancer research this morning as Dr. Alice Lee, Director of the Pediatric Sarcoma Program and Director of the Early Phase Clinical Trials Program at CHAM, received a $100,000 Hyundai Hope On Wheels® grant to support her research.
Dr. Lee is also an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. The grant will provide support for her ongoing research as part of Hyundai Hope On Wheels’® national commitment to advancing childhood cancer research.
More than 15,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year in the United States, underscoring the critical need for continued investment in research aimed at developing more targeted and safer treatments for children with cancer.
The grant presentation at CHAM brought together the research community and young patients for a special celebration highlighting the importance of continued support for childhood cancer research.
As part of the event, young patients participated in a colorful tradition by dipping their hands in paint and adding their handprints to Dr. Lee’s lab coat. The colorful handprints created a personal and memorable part of the celebration, connecting the research being supported by the grant with the children whose lives are at the center of the fight against childhood cancer.

Today, more than 850 Hyundai dealers participate in the initiative by donating a portion of every vehicle purchase to the quest to end childhood cancer. Through this nationwide effort, Hyundai Hope On Wheels has helped provide funding for childhood cancer research at hospitals and research institutions across the United States.
In 2026, Hyundai Hope On Wheels® will reach a lifetime donation total of $303 million in support of more than 1,500 childhood cancer research grants to more than 175 hospitals and research institutions.
The $100,000 grant awarded to Dr. Lee at CHAM is part of that broader commitment to supporting researchers working to improve the understanding and treatment of childhood cancer.
