On Thursday, May 28, 2020 at approximately 2355 hours, police responded to a 911 call of an assault in progress in the vicinity of 417 Newport Street, within the confines of the 75th Precinct in Brooklyn.
Upon arrival, officers were informed that a male was stabbed in the mouth following a dispute near the corner of Newport Street and Van Sinderen Avenue.
The 29-year-old male victim was removed from the scene prior to the arrival of police, and transported, via private means, to Brookdale Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Following proper family notification, the deceased has been identified as indicated.

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, the following 22-year-old individual has been arrested and charged on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at 2215 hours within the confines of the 75th Precinct.

- manslaughter;
- criminal possession of a weapon.
The investigation remains ongoing.
