On February 13, 2025, Curtis Sliwa, the well-known founder of the Guardian Angels and a bold voice in New York City (NYC) politics, took another major step toward his goal of becoming mayor. Meeting with the Bronx Republican Party, Sliwa ignited the crowd with his signature energy, delivering a passionate speech before snapping photos with attendees.

His campaign, launched only recently, is already building serious momentum. Within days, Sliwa secured endorsements from the Republican parties of Staten Island and Brooklyn—two crucial GOP strongholds in NYC. Now, with the Bronx Republican Party’s backing, officially announced by Chairman Michael Rendino and City Councilwoman Kristy Marmorato, Sliwa has claimed majority GOP support across the five boroughs, solidifying his status as the Republican front-runner.

Rendino praised Sliwa’s lifelong dedication to the city, stating, “Curtis has spent his life protecting and serving NYC—not for pay or fame, but because it is the right thing to do. He will be a mayor for all New Yorkers, and we are proud to help lead his fight.”

Marmorato echoed the sentiment, adding, “There is no candidate better suited to get NYC back on track. After 12 disastrous years of Democratic rule, Curtis is ready to restore public safety, control the migrant crisis, and create an environment where businesses can thrive.”

Sliwa vs. Adams: The Rematch Begins

For the second time, Sliwa is preparing to go head-to-head with incumbent Mayor Eric Adams in what is shaping up to be a fierce battle. But Adams is not his only challenge. Several Democratic contenders, including NYC Comptroller Brad Lander, State Senator Jessica Ramos, and former Assemblyman Michael Blake, are eager to unseat the mayor. Meanwhile, Independent candidate Jim Walden has also entered the race, adding yet another layer of unpredictability.

Adding to the intrigue, the New York Conservative Party has yet to take a position. Neither Sliwa nor Conservative Party leaders have publicly addressed the possibility of an endorsement, leaving many to wonder whether the party will back him or go in another direction.

Wildcards in the Mayoral Race: Trump, Cuomo, and the Political Shake-Up

Beyond the declared candidates, two political heavyweights loom in the background: former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and President Donald J. Trump. With only eight days left before petitioning begins, speculation is swirling that Cuomo could make a surprise entry, potentially upending Adams’ campaign and scrambling the race even further.

Then there is Trump, whose influence on this election could be a game-changer. Adams recently received a contingency pardon from the White House, fueling speculation that Trump may intervene, possibly boosting a conservative surge in the city.

Is NYC on the Verge of a Conservative Comeback?

With the federal government now leaning more conservative—both the White House and Congress pushing right-leaning policies—this year’s mayoral race could mark a pivotal shift for New York City. Could the nation’s largest and historically liberal metropolis be on the brink of a major political transformation?

As the campaign intensifies, one thing is certain: Curtis Sliwa is all in. With strong GOP backing and a message centered on law and order, he’s presenting himself as the clear alternative to the current administration. But in a city known for its political twists and turns, nothing is guaranteed.

The stage is set. The battle for City Hall is underway. Let the games begin!
