Charles Dominic Potter III, son of two former archdiocese employees, died July 10. He was 55.
Born in the Bronx, Potter received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Fordham University, Bronx, before earning a doctorate in physics from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, and moving his young family to Louvain, Belgium, for post-doctoral research. He worked in the technology industry, which took him all over the United States and other countries.
His sons, Charles and George; his father, Dr. Charles II; and his sisters, Monica Couch, Regina Munz, Lisa Kepler and Barbara Beirne, survive him. His mother, Sheila Power Potter, and his uncle, Father Vincent Potter, S.J., predeceased him.
His parents worked in the archdiocesan Family Life/Respect Life Office.
A Funeral Mass was offered August 3 at St. Columbanus Church, Cortlandt Manor. Burial was in Assumption Cemetery, Cortlandt Manor.
