BONDED is a visual love letter to the Black queer community, seen through the lens of a queer, non-binary Black woman. Through editorial portraits and intimate, unguarded moments, the project centers family, self-love and community – exploring chosen families, inherited bonds, and the journey of self-discovery. BONDED places the audience in a reflective space where they see themselves mirrored back with clarity and care. This is the Black family album – crafted to awaken empathy, deepen self-awareness and celebrate the fullness of Black queer love and life.

We are excited to invite you to attend this upcoming photography exhibition opening on Monday, September 21, 2026 from 6-8 p.m. to be held at BXposure, located at the historic Andrew Freedman Home. The event is free and open to the public. You can visit here to RSVP.

Nafisah’s Bio:

“I hate writing artist bios, they me feel like goofy or sir charlesss the third. I want this thing to feel interesting or funky or just sound like myself. But I guess you would like to know more, so here we go! My work is influenced by & centers Black Culture, femininity, and queer identities. All through the lens of a queer, non binary, Black woman. My everyday is similar to yours listening to music like Tyler the creator, Doechii, Limp Bizkit and so on, I love going to concerts but I am also a homebody, exploring new places, watching anime, and of course creating incredible commercial & editorial fashion photographs.

“I became a photographer to be creative, to actualize thoughts, emotions, and bring my dreams to life. Not to write thisss. Let’s get back to the nitty gritty, my background in psychology from BCC helps me understand & connect more with my models and clients, while my time at FIT refined my photographic vision and led me to photo directing for BLUSH Magazine. My work has been featured in publications and exhibitions like ‘Threshold’ (you know that was made by a yt person), 17:23, Flannel Magazine, and Monad. Ultimately, it is the amazing people I have met and collaborated with that truly define my work.”

We welcome you to experience this visual love letter constructed by Nafisah and embrace the beauty of Black queer love in our gallery space. The exhibition will be on view for the public until October 16, 2026.
