Victor Hernandez was sentenced to 8 1/2 years in state prison on Thursday in connection with a 2009 robbery at a Greenburg, NY home.
Hernandez, 27, of Bronx, pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery, a felony on November 27, 2012. He was also involved in a string of burglaries in Michigan and Indiana.
According to Westchester County court, Hernandez, was armed with a knife when he joined two accomplices in forcing their way into a Greenburgh home on December 20, 2009. The men tied up the Greenburgh husband and wife and stole cash, jewelry, a flat-screen TV and a laptop computer.
Two years later, the stolen laptop was located by the couple’s son, an IT manager who had previously installed software that allowed him to locate the laptop when it was turned on. According to the court, Hernandez had given the laptop to his girlfriend in Bronx.
The case against Hernandez was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Livia Rodriguez. Upon completion of his sentence at state prison, Hernandez will be turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which has a detainer on him.
