A Bronx man is facing fraud charges after allegedly trying to use another person’s name to buy a phone in Mansfield, MA.
Raymond Genao, 23, was arrested Jan. 20 and charged with identity fraud and larceny over $250. A follow-up investigation the next day led to more charges, including two counts of attempting to commit a crime and three counts of receiving stolen property over $250, according to the Mansfield Police Log.
Friday night, an employee at Best Buy on School Street requested an officer for a charge that was possibly fraudulent. The caller told police that he received a fraud alert while trying to open an account for a customer, later identified as Genao. He was taken into custody after police were told that this was his fourth attempt at adding a phone to the victim’s account.
