Open Call – BCA Tote Illustration

BCA’s Longwood Art Gallery @ Hostos is seeking a Bronx based illustrator or visual artist to be commissioned to create an image to go on the Bronx Council on the Arts’ tote bag. The totes will be given free of cost to teen and young adult participants in the gallery’s youth program, BCA grantees, and workshop attendees, among others. Interested artists may submit examples of their work for consideration. The final image will be a one color screen print and measure up to 12 x 13”.

About the Open Call

  • please submit up to 10 examples of your work;
  • submit up to a paragraph about your planned image – keeping in mind that the initials BCA will need to be included in the final image – but open to your interpretation and style;
  • all visual mediums that can be reproduced in a one color screen print can apply; bags will be printed in ink similar to Pantone 7459 C
  • $800 stipend will be provided;
  • both artist and BCA retain reproduction rights to the commissioned image, with credit always given to the artist as the creator of the image;
  • deadline is Saturday, September 07, 2019 at 11:59 p.m.

Eligibility requirements:

  • illustrator must be a Bronx resident
