On Monday, November 01, 2021, at approximately 0146 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a vehicle collision on the southbound Cross Bronx Expressway at Exit 4, within the confines of the 48th Precinct in the Bronx.
Upon arrival, police observed a single vehicle accident with 3 aided individuals.
A 33-year-old male, a 36-year-old female and a 36-year-old female.
The two aided females sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported via EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals / Jacobi in stable condition.
The 33-year-old male sustained internal injuries and was transported via EMS to St. Barnabus Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
A preliminary investigation determined that the 36-year-old female was operating a 2020 Hyundai Elantra and traveling southbound on the Cross Bronx Expressway. The operator attempted to take Exit 4 for the Bronx River Parkway at an apparent high rate of speed, lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree.
The operator was taken into police custody.
The NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.
Following proper family notification, the deceased has been identified as indicated.

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, the following 36-year-old female individual has been arrested and charged.

- vehicular manslaughter;
- driving while intoxicated;
- driving while ability impaired.
The investigation remains ongoing.
All charges are merely accusations and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
