A Bronx man was charged under Leandra’s Law late Saturday night.
James Bell, 46, of Bronx, who had his license revoked in May, was arrested for driving drunk again late Saturday night with four young children in his car.
Troy, NY police had been called to 10th and Hoosick streets to investigate a drug complaint when they came across a vehicle that crossed the double yellow line on Oakwood Avenue, according to Capt. John Cooney. The patrol units stopped the vehicle in the Stewart’s parking lot, he added, and contact contacted the department’s DWI enforcement unit as the driver showed signs of intoxication..
Four children, all under 15, were in the car with Bell, Cooney said.
Bell was charged with felony Driving While Intoxicated, Leandra’s Law, felony aggravated unlicensed operation, as his license was revoked for previous DWI/DWAI violations, and four counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
