Render Burns, 40, Arrested For The Murder Of Curtis Quinones, 43

On Monday, September 7, 2026, at approximately 2253 hours, New York City Police Department (NYPD) police officers responded to a 911 call of an assault in front of 1440 University Avenue, within the confines of the 44th Precinct in the Bronx.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 43-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the head, a 52-year-old female with a graze wound to the leg, and a 65-year-old female with a gunshot wound to the leg.

EMS responded and transported the victims to NYC Health + Hospitals / Lincoln, where the 43-year-old male was later pronounced deceased by hospital staff.

The 52-year-old and 65-year old victims are listed in stable condition.

Following proper family notification, the deceased has been identified as indicated.

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, the following 40-year-old male individual was arrested and charged on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 0945 hours, within the confines of the 44 Precinct.

  • murder;
  • manslaughter;
  • criminal possession of a weapon, 2 counts.

The investigation remains ongoing.
