The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has released images of a person of interest in connection with the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on September 10, 2025. The suspect is described as a male, approximately college-aged, who fired a single shot from a rooftop about 200 yards from the stage where Kirk was speaking. Kirk was struck in the neck and later died from his injuries.

Authorities recovered a Mauser .30-06 bolt-action rifle in nearby woods, along with ammunition reportedly engraved with pro-transgender and antifascist messages. Investigators have also collected palm prints, forearm imprints, and a footwear impression from the scene. Surveillance footage shows the suspect dressed in dark clothing, including a long-sleeve black shirt adorned with an American flag, a dark-colored hat, and sunglasses. The suspect fled into a wooded area after the shooting and remains at large.

The FBI is urging the public to come forward with any information that may assist in identifying the suspect. Individuals with relevant information are encouraged to contact the FBI’s Salt Lake City office or submit tips through the FBI’s online tip portal. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working diligently to bring the individual responsible to justice.

The shooting has sparked widespread condemnation across the political spectrum, with leaders from both parties expressing concern over the incident and calling for unity and an end to political violence.
