The 2026 Niche rankings are out, and Bronx Community College (BCC) has been named #4 among Best Community Colleges in New York State. The rankings are based on data from the U.S. Department of Education covering academics, admissions, affordability, and student life, along with millions of student reviews.

“We are proud to be recognized among the top community colleges in New York,” said BCC President Larry Johnson, Jr. “Our affordability, innovative programs, and comprehensive student support—designed to remove barriers to higher education—make Bronx Community College a place where students can truly thrive.”

BCC graduates go on to achieve strong outcomes: about 90% are employed within a year of graduation, and the same percentage remain employed five years later. On average, an associate degree from BCC increases earning potential by 35% compared to a high school diploma.

Founded in 1957, BCC is the oldest of The City University of New York’s six community colleges and a proud Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI). Today, the College enrolls more than 6,000 students from nearly 100 countries and offers more than 40 associate degree and certificate programs – ranging from Media and Digital Film Production and Cybersecurity to Health Sciences and Nuclear Medicine Technology – as well as workforce training, continuing education, and professional studies through BCC’s adult learning programs.

Set on a 45-acre campus overlooking the Harlem River, BCC is home to the historic Hall of Fame for Great Americans. Its architecturally significant grounds have earned the rare designation of National Historic Landmark, making BCC a campus where history, innovation, and opportunity intersect.
