Thousands of cyclists rolled through the streets of Bronx Sunday in the 17th annual Tour de Bronx.
The state’s largest free bicycling event enticed more than 6,000 people to come out this year. The course started in Concourse and took riders on either a 25 or 40-mile route through the borough.
Organizers said they hope the tour shows off the borough’s many attractions while encouraging active living.
“It’s a way for them to experience the Bronx through a different vantage point, through different lenses, and you can enjoy our wonderful cultural institutions, our parks, beautiful scenic routes through our wonderful neighborhoods,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr.
After their tour, bikers were treated to a festival at the New York Botanical Garden, with live entertainment and refreshments.
