Commissioner Yolanda B. Jimenez receives a donation of backpacks and school supplies at the New York City Family Justice Center Bronx, an initiative of the Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence.
The one hundred backpacks and school supplies will benefit the children of domestic violence victims that currently receive services at the Bronx Center. The Bronx Chamber of Commerce and Hutchinson Metro Center sponsored this back to school initiative.
“Children are often impacted by witnessing violence at home. Providing them with critical services as well as essential items such as school supplies supports them as they continue to learn and grow,” said Commissioner Jimenez.
“Our future leaders must return to school with a positive attitude and fully be prepared to embark on the learning experience,” said Bronx Chamber of Commerce, Leonard Caro. “The developers of the Hutchinson Metro Center have been long-standing supporters of domestic violence prevention initiatives and are proud to support this program,” said President & COO Hutch Management Company Joseph Kelleher.
