Update On The NYPD Response To The Coronavirus Outbreak

Sick Report Daily Update

On Wednesday, April 29, 2020, 2,767 uniformed members of the NYPD were on sick report which accounts for 7.70% of the Department’s uniformed workforce. That is down from a high of 19.80%. To date, 4,959 members of the NYPD have tested positive for coronavirus.

As of today, Wedneday, April 29, 2020, 3,958 members of the NYPD have returned to work full duty after recovering from a positive test for the coronavirus and 745 uniformed members plus 219 civilian members are still out sick diagnosed with coronavirus.

Let us remember and pray for the 37 members of the service that have died due to coronavirus-related illness.

Citywide Patrols

Officers continue to visit restaurants, bars, supermarkets, salons and public spaces to remind individuals of the ban on congregating in public spaces and to practice social distancing.

Between 08:00 a.m., Tuesday April 28, 2020 and 08:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2020:

  • NYPD officers visited 3,116 supermarkets and pharmacies 1,388 of which were closed.
  • NYPD officers visited 7,278 bars and restaurants 6,005 of which were closed. 
  • NYPD officers visited 1,211 public places of which 841 were closed. 
  • NYPD officers visited 3,017 personal care facilities of 3,017 which were closed. 

There were no arrests and no summonses issued in regard to these visits.
