Tykwan McLeod, 45, Arrested For The Murder Of Donte Thomas, 33

On Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at approximately 2048 hours, police responded to a 911 call of multiple people shot at the intersection of East Mount Eden Avenue and Jerome Avenue, within the confines of the 44th Precinct in the Bronx.

Upon arrival, officers observed a total of three individuals shot. Victim #1, a 33-year-old male, was shot in the head and was removed by responding EMS to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.

Victim #2, a 35-year-old male, was shot in the chest and was removed to NYC Health + Hospitals / Lincoln in critical but stable condition.

A preliminary investigation determined that a 45-year-old male approached the two males and discharged a firearm multiple times, striking the two victims.

During a struggle with the 35-year-old victim, the 45-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to the head, and was removed to NYC Health + Hospitals / Lincoln, via EMS, where he remains in critical condition and in police custody, with charges pending.

Following proper family notification, the deceased has been identified as follows.

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, the following 45-year-old male individual has been arrested and charged on February 17, 2021.

Charges:

  • assault;
  • murder;
  • manslaughter;
  • criminal possession of a weapon.

The investigation remains ongoing.

All charges are merely accusations and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
