Where are renters headed this November? Our monthly rental activity report is out, offering insights into the shifts in renters’ preferences, based on millions of interactions on RentCafe.com.

Despite falling from sixth place to #19 in November, the Bronx remains a top destination for renters in the Northeast. In fact, the Bronx has been in the top 30 destinations for renters for eight months.

.

Here are the key indicators of rental interest in the Bronx in November:

  • The 115% surge in the number of page views for listings in the Bronx compared to last November shows a steady activity buzz in the borough.

  • More so, there was a 16% drop in available apartments, leaving fewer options for prospective renters.

  • The number of favorited listings increased by 20% and saved properties by 23%.

Elsewhere in the Northeast (Regions are as per U.S. Census definitions):

  • November’s most popular Northeast locations for renters are all in New York: Queens, NY (#6); Bronx, NY (#19); and Buffalo, NY (#17). Notably, the number of page views for Buffalo listings tripled compared to last November.

For this recurring report, we analyze key factors that reflect both the rental context and renters’ interest in each city during the month: how many apartments were available; how the renter search volume changed year-over-year; how many personalized searches were saved by renters; and how many apartments were marked as favorites.

You can find a detailed analysis for each city and the top locations by region in the full report here.
