On Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at approximately 0534 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a vehicle collision at Morris Park Avenue and Van Buren Street, within the confines of the 49th Precinct in the Bronx.
Upon arrival, police observed a 25-year-old female with trauma about the body and a 55-year-old male with trauma to his neck and legs.
EMS also responded and transported both the female and the male to NYC Health + Hospitals / Jacobi, where the female was pronounced deceased.
The male is currently listed in stable condition.
A preliminary investigation determined that the 25-year-old female was operating a 2005 Honda Odyssey van and traveling westbound on Morris Park Avenue, when she drifted out of her lane and collided head-on with a 2008 Ford Econoline van, operated by the 55-year-old male, which was traveling eastbound on Morris Park Avenue.
The NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.
Following proper family notification, the deceased has been identified as indicated.
