Bronx Community College (BCC) has been awarded a two-year $100K grant from Santander US to support student scholarships. The funds will create the Santander Scholars Fund, a needs-based program built to ensure broad educational access for students facing the most urgent financial challenges.

“At Santander, we believe in creating opportunities that help every student succeed. Through our partnership with Bronx Community College, we are proud to support initiatives that provide students with the resources, programs, and experiences that make a meaningful difference in their education and future careers,” said Mike Bruno, Region President, Santander Bank, N.A.

Santander US recently announced the allocation of $13 million in grants to more than 30 colleges and universities across the United States. The funding represents the next phase of Santander’s broader $25 million commitment to education, employability, and entrepreneurship, which supports programs designed to expand access to higher education and create pathways to opportunity.

The Santander Scholars Fund at BCC is primarily intended for Pell-eligible first-generation students in good academic standing with demonstrated need via FAFSA or a supplemental application; it is expected to distribute 15-25 contributions annually, with $1K-$5K allotted per student.

BCC’s Vice President of External Relations Eddy Bayardelle said, “We are deeply grateful for Santander’s commitment to our students. This partnership will make a real difference in the lives of those striving to complete their education and build brighter futures. The Santander Scholars Fund reflects the shared mission of BCC and Santander to expand opportunity and strengthen our community through access to education.”
