On Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at approximately 0125 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision, involving a pedestrian, struck at the intersection of East Tremont Avenue and Prospect Avenue, within the confines of the 48th Precinct in the Bronx.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 51-year-old male pedestrian, unconscious and unresponsive, lying on the roadway with severe body trauma.

EMS responded to the location and transported the victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined the victim, while utilizing the crosswalk, attempted to cross Tremont Avenue from north to south when he was struck by a sedan heading westbound on Tremont Avenue at an apparent high rate of speed.

The vehicle did not remain at the scene.

Following proper family notification, the deceased has been identified as indicated.

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, the New York Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the following unidentified male individual, who is wanted for questioning in connection to the above-described accident.

The following has been reported to police.

The individual is described as a male, Black, approximately in his 20’s, with a medium build.

He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with white lettering in front of it, black shorts, white socks, white sandals, black hat, a red fanny pack around his neck and an earring on his left ear.

A surveillance video clip and a photograph of the suspect are attached and available at DCPI.
