A new chapter in political media is unfolding with the highly anticipated launch of Political Chit Chat with Gonzalo Duran, a groundbreaking show poised to shake up conversations on local and global issues. Gonzalo Duran, a dynamic figure who has worn many hats as a veteran, nonprofit leader, and community advocate, is now making a lateral move from his long-running program, Vet Talk with Sergeant Gonzalo Duran, to the politically charged stage of Political Chit Chat with Gonzalo Duran.
For over a decade, Vet Talk aired across various platforms, shining a spotlight on veterans’ stories, community resources, and occasionally, politics. But with Political Chit Chat with Gonzalo Duran, the focus sharpens—delving deep into local and national politics, offering unfiltered interviews with key figures, and unpacking the pressing issues shaping our world.
“When I started Vet Talk in 2013, it was a veteran-themed talk show dedicated to giving veterans a voice and amplifying the organizations that serve them,” Duran reflected. “Over time, politics naturally became part of the conversation. After all, nonprofits and politics often intersect—whether it is through funding, legislation, or community action.”
Vet Talk began humbly in late 2013 at the Devil Dog USA, Inc. Bronx office. By early 2014, it caught the attention of the Albanian American Vision network, and by 2016, with the help of BronxNet, it leveled up with studio-quality production. Through the challenges of the CoViD-19 pandemic, Duran and his team navigated between television, podcasting, and radio, keeping the show alive. In 2023, under the leadership of new executive director Jason Murillo, the program expanded to Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN), marking one of its most significant growth periods.
Yet for Duran, the next step was clear. “I wanted to focus more intentionally on politics,” he said. And thus, Political Chit Chat with Gonzalo Duran was born in January 2025.
To date, several episodes have already been filmed, and the show is gearing up for its official premiere. Duran’s mission is ambitious yet personal: to give lesser-known local politicians a platform, elevate underrepresented voices, and ignite political curiosity among viewers. “I have been in the political world for as long as I’ve been filming,” Duran shared. “You could say this moment brings me full circle.”
With a sharp lens on democracy, policy, and leadership, Political Chit Chat with Gonzalo Duran promises to be a fresh, unapologetic addition to the political media landscape.
