This fall, Wantagh Union Free School District of Nassau County, New York and Union Endicott Central School District of Broome County, New York began using the high-tech, web-based bullying prevention and school safety product – Sprigeo.

Founded in 2011 and at a very affordable $295 per school per year, Sprigeo is already used in approximately 500 schools across 21 states, including New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland.

Since 2005, 34 states have passed anti-bullying legislation to increase pressure on schools to act, leaving Montana as the only state yet to press for change. As the education system faces an unprecedented number of million-dollar lawsuits related to school bullying to complement its already frail budget, schools all over the United States are seeking an affordable solution to increase student safety. .While some schools have not reacted to the new laws, Wantagh Union and Union Endicott have taken a proactive stance and partnered with bullying prevention software provider, Sprigeo.

Sprigeo’s anonymous online incident reporting and tracking platform empowers victims, bystanders, and tipsters to act against offenders in an effort to keep kids and teens safe at school. Anyone with access to the web can use the reporting form on the Sprigeo website to submit an anonymous online reports that instantly reaches the school principal, through either email or text message notification. Sprigeo believes they have found a formula that works, which kids and teens trust and want to use.

Sprigeo stands out among competitors because of its due diligence expended in creating a reporting form and follow up mechanism that are user friendly for victims, bystanders, administrators, and those in leadership positions within a school setting. The platform features are truly invaluable for monitoring compliance, audits, and statistical reporting. According to Sprigeo CEO Joe Bruzzese, “Over the next few years, the impact of bullying incidents will continue to grow. Providing students with a safe way to report bullying and school safety incidents strengthens the relationship between students, schools and families. Everyone has the right to feel safe at school.”

The system can be accessed online at Spigeo.com.
