The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) hereby gives a Notice of Availability (NOA) of a “Draft Environmental Assessment” (DEA) for the proposedSpinal Cord Injury/Disorder (SCI/D) Center and Parking Garage project. This project will include construction of a SCI/D Center addition, conversion of the existing heating plant to a gas fired combined heat power facility, and construction of a new stand-alone parking structure to accommodate approximately 805 cars.
The VA has prepared a DEA in accordance with the regulations for implementing the procedural provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), (Public Law 91-190, 42 USC 4321-4347 January 1, 1970), amendments, and VA’s implementing regulations (38 CFR Part 26). The purpose of the DEA is to provide the public with the information required to understand and evaluate the proposed project and provide their input in the decision-making process. Any substantive comments received will be addressed in the Final EA. After the conclusion of a thirty days public comment period, the VA intends to issue a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI).

The VA will hold a public meeting to get public comments on the DEA and draft FONSI of the SCI/D Center and Parking Garage project.This public meeting will be held on August 5, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at James J. Peters VAMC, Hospital Building 100, Room 1B-07.
Public comments must include Name, Address, and Telephone Number. Please note that the VA reserves the right to not address any comment that does not include this information. All public comments are due no later than thirty days from this notice. Public is encouraged to provide hard copies of oral comments.
