On Saturday, May 3, the City of NY proudly presented the Bronx Semi-Finals for the 2025 Minecraft Education Battle of the Boroughs (BOTB) Esports Competition.
The 2025 competition has received 659 submissions from 3,295 students, a 37% increase over the number of students who participated in 2024 (2,400) and a 135% increase in the number of students who participated in 2023 (1,400).
At the semi-finals, each borough determines 3 teams (one K-5 grade team, one 6-8 grade team, and a 9-12 grade team) who will compete in the final Mayor’s Cup on May 31, 2025.

- 175 students/35 teams from 26+ schools across the Bronx, including last year’s winners from PS 100
- NYC Public Schools Chancellor Melissa Aviles-Ramos
- Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson
The event took place at the Bronx High School for Law and Community Service: Roosevelt Campus, located at 500 E. Fordham Road, Bronx, NY 10458.
