Luis Morillo, 18 & Miles Gibson, 20, Arrested For The Murder Of Oliver Askia, 26

On Saturday, November 30, 2019, at approximately 2250 hours, police responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the vicinity of 1534 University Avenue, within the confines of the 46 Precinct in Bronx.

Upon arrival, no victims were discovered at the activation location and a subsequent hospital canvass was conducted. During the course of the hospital canvass, officers observed a 26-year-old male, who sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, at NYC Health and Hospitals / Jacobi. The victim was removed to the hospital by private conveyance, where he was pronounced deceased.

Following proper family notification, the victim has been identified as follows.

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, the following two male individuals were arrested and charged on Thursday, January 02, 2020, within the confines of the 46 Precinct in Bronx.

Arrested:

Luis Morillo, 18
1590 Undercliff Avenue
Bronx, NY 10453

Miles Gibson, 20
1590 Undercliff Avenue
Bronx, NY 10453

Charges for both individuals:

  • murder
  • criminal possession of a loaded firearm

The investigation remains ongoing.

All charges are merely accusations and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
