On Friday, June 05, 2020, at approximately 1945 hours, police responded to a 911 call for a collision involving a bicyclist at the intersection of Willis Avenue and 138th Street, in the confines of the 40th Precinct in the Bronx.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a 23-year-old male bicyclist with severe head and bodily injuries at the scene.
EMS transported the bicyclist to NYC Health + Hospitals / Lincoln, where he succumbed to his injuries and pronounced deceased on Monday, June 08, 2020.
An investigation conducted by the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that the bicyclist was traveling southbound inside the bike lane on Willis Avenue, when he collided into the driver’s side of a 2013 Lexus sedan operated by a 62-year-old male, traveling eastbound on E. 138th Street.
The vehicle remained on scene and the investigation is ongoing.
Following proper family notification, the deceased has been identified as indicated.
