We all know HP ‘s been involved in numerous green initiatives before.

This time though, the company wants to give consumers a choice to opt for their more eco-friendly products with the introduction of a new green label called HP Eco Highlights. HP will be using the label for its whole range of products–from printers to whole computer systems. Along with this new development, HP is also launching four new printers which are the first products to be given the HP Eco Highlights label — the very first of which is the HP Deskjet D2545 printer, which is HP’s first printer to be made of 83 percent recycled plastic.

To stay true to the initiative, the deskjet printer uses HP 60 cartridges which were manufactured using molders made of recycled plastic as well. If you’re wondering where the abundance of plastic in the HP HQ was from, it’ll be from the HP Planet Partners program as well as numerous other sources, used plastic water bottles included. Aside from the company’s own green label, the HP Deskjet D2545 Printer is also Energy Star qualified and is installed with HP Smart Web Printing which lets users optimize web printing by allowing them to print portions from several web pages on a single paper. The “green” deskjet printer is now available for US$49.

Besides the D2545, the other three products branded with the HP Eco Highlights label are the HP LaserJet P4015x, LaserJet P4515x and LaserJet P4515xm printers.
