Some of the first swine flu vaccines to arrive in New York City were quickly administered to health care workers and kids at the Children’s Hospital Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx yesterday.
Health care workers, pregnant women, and children are on the priority list. The first weekly shipment of H1N1 nasal mist vaccines began arriving Monday. The City expects receiving limited batches of 68,000 vaccines per week through October. Next month, more than 1 million doses are anticipated to be followed by another 2 million in December.
According to a Harvard University poll, only half of U.S. adults plan to get vaccinated.
Schools are to begin handing out swine flu inoculation consent forms for students to give their parents within a few weeks. Students should start receiving vaccinations by the end of the month.
