The Food Bank For New York City is thrilled to announce its 2nd Annual Free Haircut Event in the Hunts Point area of the Bronx, set to provide up to 30 children with complimentary haircuts in preparation for the upcoming school year. For many families, a haircut is a luxury they simply cannot afford, and with the added pressures and expenses that come with back-to-school season many parents, single parents and families find it very difficult to do what some may find to be a very minor expense like getting a haircut, difficult and unlikely to afford for themselves and their kids.

In addition to the free haircuts, the event will offer a range of supportive resources for families, including donated books, personal care items, and contributions from generous sponsors such as Starbucks, Tropicana, and Boar’s Head. Attendees will also have access to fresh produce from the Hunts Point Produce Market, allowing families to be able to nourish their families with the nutritious and healthy foods they need to thrive.

With approximately 1.2 million New Yorkers facing food insecurity, Food Bank For New York City remains committed to providing healthy food options and essential resources to ensure that children are well-nourished and prepared to excel as they return to school. This initiative is a vital effort to reduce stress for families and promote the well-being and readiness of children.
