Foreign/Familiar: Immigrants In The Bronx explores displacement and belonging through the work of seven Bronx visual and media artists.

Their works are influenced, inspired, respond to, or revolve around issues of voluntary and involuntary exile, immigration, diaspora, and statelessness. Curated collectively by the Bronx Council on the Arts, the exhibition was generated through an Open Call for Bronx-based artists, and offers alternative narratives to the current public discourses on immigrant and refugee communities.

Participating artists:

Dennis Redmoon Darkeem, Nicky Enright, Kitchen Table Digital Diaspora Collective, Tijay Mohammed, Luis Stephenberg Alers, Musah Swallah.

Curators:

Priyanka Das, Alex Lappin, Julia Pimes Mata, Bryan E. Glover, Viviana Bianchi

The Opening Reception will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 06:00 – 09:00 p.m. and the Closing Reception will take place on Wednesday, February 27, 06:00 – 09:00 p.m.
