Cops raced to a Bronx apartment Friday after a report that an emotionally disturbed 13-year-old boy stabbed his dog, officials said.
The boy’s mom called 911 after the boy barricaded himself in his room inside their Fox Street home near E. 163rd Street in Foxhurst about 2:00 p.m.
The mother told cops the teen had stabbed the dog to death and then stormed into his room. He locked the door and could be heard tearing up his room.
Her son was suffering an anxiety attack, the mother told police.
Emergency responders took the boy to the hospital.
It was not immediately clear if an animal was actually harmed, police sources said. A dog could be heard barking from behind the apartment door two hours after the clash with police.
The teen was taken to an area hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. A responding officer suffered a small injury in subduing the teen and was also hospitalized, officials said.
No charges were immediately filed against the boy.
