The evening featured a performance by Grammy-nominated artist Sevyn Streeter, with opener Kenny Sway, a DC street performer. Dr. Katsnelson gave the keynote address.
“When I first became Bronx Borough President in 2022, I visited USA Fibroid Centers and I met Dr. Katsnelson and we talked about fibroids,” said Gibson. “Little did I know the following year, fibroids would affect me.”
Gibson’s experience underscores the importance of raising awareness and supporting those affected, a mission echoed throughout the event.
Hosted by Cynthia Bailey, star of Real Housewives of Atlanta, and celebrity make-up artist Kym Lee, the event also included a discussion panel with Dr. Katsnelson, fibroid ambassadors, and survivors.
USA Fibroid Centers specializes in minimally invasive treatment for fibroids, such as uterine fibroid embolization (UFE). Fibroids affect millions of women and disproportionately affect Black women, with 80% developing fibroids by age 50 compared to 70% of white women.
“We are here because millions of women suffer from fibroids that affect them physically, mentally, and socially,” said Dr. Katsnelson. “Too often, they agree to invasive surgeries they do not need. We are here so women can live their best lives without limitation.”
Sponsors of the event included USA Fibroid Centers, Merit Medical, Planned Parenthood, Moore Promotions,, Antenna Satellite, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Kappa Epsilon Zeta Chapter, Bronx, NY.
Their support is vital in advancing treatment, research, and patient advocacy services.
