Yankee baseball legend Joe DiMaggio gets a lasting tribute by the USPS.
A new Forever Stamp featuring the likeness of Joltin’ Joe was unveiled Saturday at the main post office on the Grand Concourse in Bronx.
It is part of a series honoring Hall of Fame ball players.
DiMaggio is best known for his 56-game hitting streak in 1941, a record that many say will never be broken.
His family could not be happier.
“Amazing,” said Kathie Stein, DiMaggio’s granddaughter. “Very honored, very proud. Very exciting. I’m so glad that the US Postal Service decided to bestow this honor on him.”
The Postal Service also unveiled a new postmark made just for the occasion.
It was designed by Luis Pagan, a postal worker from Manhattan.
