The NYPD says a Bronx couple has died of cyanide poisoning following an ongoing domestic dispute.
Authorities said 35-year-old Erlendy Flores died today, a day after 41-year-old Flavio Godoy stuck a syringe in her buttocks while she was bent over packing her clothes.
Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said Godoy then ingested the same liquid cyanide from a cup and died.
Flores was initially hospitalized in a coma in critical condition, but died several hours later.
Kelly said the couple had a history of domestic violence disputes.
The couple had argued Sunday, and Flores spent the night at her sister’s apartment in the same Bronx building.
Police said the incident occurred when she returned to her apartment the next day to collect her things while her brother waited outside.
An investigating is still ongoing to determine how Godoy was able to get the poison.
