Bronx Concert Singers’ Holiday Concert

The Bronx Concert Singers will present a holiday concert entitled An English Christmas on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at 4:30 P.M. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church located at 1892 McGraw Avenue in the Bronx.

The program will feature a chorus and a chamber orchestra conducted by Robert René Galván, the group’s music director.

The performance will include selections from Handel’s Messiah and Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Christmas Carols with baritone James Bobick as soloist. Mezzo-soprano Rita Mathsen is the soloist for R.V. Williams’ unique Magnificat and soprano Melissa Raymond in the Messiah excerpts.

Other short works by Britten, Gardiner, Holst and Walton will be presented as well.
