Bronx Community College (BCC) has announced two key leadership appointments, welcoming Maya T. Mapp as Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Success and Christine Mellampe as Executive Director of Human Resources.The appointments bring experienced leaders to two areas central to the College’s continued growth and its Bronx Renaissance 2031 strategic plan: advancing enrollment and student success and supporting BCC’s faculty and staff.
Mapp brings more than 20 years of higher education experience to BCC. She most recently served as Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management at Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, where she led enrollment and student success strategy across recruitment, financial aid, student services and persistence initiatives. Her previous leadership roles include positions at Arcadia University, Shippensburg University, Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
“Student success is enrollment management and enrollment management is student success,” Mapp said. “They are both sides of the same coin.”
Mapp will bring a data-informed approach to enrollment, retention and graduation while working closely with students, faculty and staff to better understand the experiences behind the numbers.
“Maya brings tremendous experience, energy and a genuine commitment to student success,” BCC President Dr. Larry D. Johnson, Jr. said. “We are excited to welcome her to BCC and look forward to all that we will accomplish together.”
Mapp will serve as Interim Vice President beginning September 28, 2026, pending formal approval by the CUNY Board of Trustees in October.
Mellampe joins BCC with extensive human resources leadership experience across higher education, mission-driven organizations and cultural institutions. She most recently served as Chief Human Resources Officer at the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU and previously led human resources at the Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation, the Whitney Museum of American Art and Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health.
At BCC, Mellampe will focus on strengthening HR communications, employee engagement and partnerships across the College. “One thing I would be most proud of a year from now is when the community views HR as a trusted partner,” Mellampe said. “I believe that HR is in a really great position for culture change and culture building.”
For Mellampe, joining BCC is also a homecoming. Raised in the Bronx, she was familiar with the College and its role in expanding access to education and opportunity. She holds an MBA in Finance from Montclair State University and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the College of New Rochelle.
“Christine brings a thoughtful, people-centered approach to human resources along with extensive experience in higher education and complex organizations,” Vice President for Administration and Finance Andrea Pinnock said. “Her focus on connection and belonging aligns well with our commitment to creating an environment where our employees feel valued and supported.”
