Join us for the 2026 Upstream Soiree as we celebrate 25 years of the Bronx River Alliance and the community-driven restoration work that has transformed a once abandoned river into a thriving natural resource.
25 years ago, much of the Bronx River was was filled with tires, trash, and rusting debris. Today, it is home to thriving ecosystems, new parks, and thousands of New York residents who come to the river to learn, explore, paddle, and escape the city.
And now, something amazing has happened: a river otter has returned to the Bronx River for the first time in 100 years!
The return of the otter is more than an exciting wildlife sighting. It is a powerful reminder of how far the river has come and proof of what’s possible when community comes together.
We could not have gotten here without the people like you who believed the Bronx River could be something more. And there is still so much more work to be done!

About the Bronx River Alliance
The Bronx River Alliance serves as a coordinated voice for the river. We work in harmonious partnership to protect, improve and restore the Bronx River corridor. Our goal is to make a healthy ecological, recreational, educational, and economic resource for all communities through which the river flows.
The Alliance works in close partnership with the New York City Parks as well as dozens of community-based partners, regional nonprofits, businesses and all levels of government.
