Constellations Of Community: Annual Gala To Celebrate KHCC's 52 Years Of Service To The Bronx | The Bronx Daily

The Kingsbridge Heights Community Center (KHCC), a cornerstone nonprofit serving families across the Bronx for more than five decades, will host its annual benefit gala, Constellations of Community, on Thursday, April 9, 2026. The event marks 52 years of dedicated service and impact in the borough and will bring together community members, supporters, and local leaders for an evening of inspiration, reflection, and forward-looking vision.

The celebration will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at The Meeting Galleries at 10 Grand Central, located at 155 E. 44^th Street, New York, NY 10017.

The highlight of the evening will be an intimate fireside chat with world-renowned astrophysicist and bestselling author Neil deGrasse Tyson, who will be honored as the gala’s Star Honoree. Known for his ability to make complex scientific ideas accessible and engaging, Tyson will share insights on discovery, curiosity, and the importance of expanding horizons—both in the cosmos and within local communities.

Serving as Star Host for the evening is Jordan Sanchez, National America Miss 2025, who will help guide guests through a program celebrating KHCC’s legacy and its bold plans for the future.

Guests will enjoy cocktails, meaningful conversation, and opportunities to connect with fellow supporters committed to strengthening the Bronx. The event will spotlight KHCC’s mission to empower youth and families to develop passions and potential, and to build durable pathways toward purpose, prosperity, and well-being.

For 52 years, Kingsbridge Heights Community Center has been a vital resource in the Bronx, providing educational programming, workforce development, youth leadership initiatives, mental health support, and family services. The annual gala serves not only as a fundraiser, but also as a moment to reaffirm the organization’s commitment to ensuring that every Bronx resident has access to opportunity.

About Kingsbridge Heights Community Center

The Kingsbridge Heights Community Center (KHCC) was founded in 1974 by a group of passionate community organizers. The group was led by three neighborhood women: Mary McLoughlin, Patricia Burns, and Janet Athanasidy.

Upon hearing in 1972 that the 50^th Precinct was moving out of its turn-of-the-century building on Kingsbridge Terrace, the three jumped at the opportunity to realize their vision for a community center.

KHCC provides resources to empower Bronx residents from cradle to career to advance education and well-being for a vibrant community. We achieve this in an environment that fosters academic milestones, literacy, mental health support, nutrition, technology, and the arts.
