9/11: NYC Forgot What Islam Did

On this solemn day, September 11, 2025, America pauses to remember the worst terrorist attack on our soil — a day when nearly 3,000 innocent lives were stolen in New York City, Washington, DC, and Shanksville, PA. Yet, while many gather to mourn, a disturbing reality cannot be ignored: two decades later, New York City has forgotten what Islam did on that fateful day.

The Day America Changed Forever

On the morning of September 11, 2001, radical Islamic terrorists, armed with box cutters and fueled by hatred, hijacked four commercial planes. Two of those planes slammed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, reducing them to rubble and changing the New York City skyline forever. Another struck the Pentagon. A fourth, thanks to the courage of American passengers, crashed in Pennsylvania before it could reach its intended target — likely the Capitol or the White House.

The attacks were not random. They were orchestrated by al-Qaeda, an Islamic terror network motivated by a fanatical, anti-American ideology. Their goal was not just mass murder, but to send a message: Islamists sought the destruction of Western civilization, Judeo-Christian values, and the freedoms that Americans cherish.

A Nation United — For a Time

In the days following the attacks, Americans came together like never before. Flags waved from every home. Churches filled with grieving but determined patriots. Police officers, firefighters, and first responders — many of them from New York City — became national heroes. President George W. Bush stood tall, declaring that America would hunt down those who committed these evil acts.

But as the years passed, political correctness, revisionist history, and progressive ideology began erasing the truth. Instead of openly acknowledging the role radical Islam played, elites pushed the narrative of “Islamophobia,” as though Americans were the problem for daring to name their enemy.

NYC’s Amnesia

Today, in New York City, where the blood of nearly 3,000 innocents was spilled, Islam is not spoken of as the aggressor. Instead, far-left leaders, activists, and academics have reframed the narrative. They push for tolerance without truth, diversity without discernment, and inclusion without accountability.

One prime example of this dangerous shift is Zohran Mamdani, a radical socialist and open antisemite who serves as a New York State Assemblyman. Mamdani, a Muslim, is part of the Democratic Socialists of America, an organization steeped in anti-American and anti-Israel rhetoric. He has repeatedly refused to condemn Hamas — the very terrorist group that butchered innocent Israeli civilians in 2023. Instead, Mamdani proudly supports the so-called “Global Intifada,” openly aligning himself with a violent movement rooted in jihadist ideology. Even more alarming, at the end of 2025, Mamdani secured the Democratic nomination for the New York City mayoral election. This shocking development means that a man who embraces extremist rhetoric, sympathizes with terrorists, and demonizes America’s closest ally in the Middle East is now positioned to potentially become the mayor of the very city most devastated by Islamic terrorism on 9/11.

This is not just naïve politics. It is betrayal. To elevate men like Mamdani while ignoring the lessons of 9/11 dishonors every firefighter, every police officer, every mother, father, son, and daughter who never came home that day.

The Danger of Forgetting

If New Yorkers and Americans at large continue to forget the truth about 9/11, history will repeat itself. Radical Islam has not disappeared. From Hamas in Gaza, to Hezbollah in Lebanon, to ISIS remnants in Syria, and to lone-wolf jihadists radicalized online, the threat remains very real. Yet, politicians like Mamdani would rather demonize Israel, the one democracy in the Middle East, than confront Islamic terror.

Forgetting 9/11 is not just ignorance. It is negligence. When a society refuses to identify its enemies, it leaves itself vulnerable to future attacks. The tragic irony is that the very city most scarred by Islamic terrorism is now one of the loudest in silencing the truth about it.

Honor Through Truth

The victims of 9/11 deserve better. They deserve a country that remembers exactly who murdered them and why. They deserve leaders who refuse to bow to political correctness and instead call radical Islam by its name. They deserve citizens who will never allow America’s memory to be rewritten by socialist agitators and Hamas sympathizers.

On this anniversary, we honor the fallen not by rewriting history, but by telling it truthfully. We honor them by standing against jihad and the Marxist enablers who excuse it. We honor them by defending our nation, our faith, and our freedom against enemies both foreign and domestic.

Let us never forget — not just the tragedy of 9/11, but the ideology that caused it. Let us never allow figures like Mamdani to whitewash terrorism while pretending to speak for justice. And let us ensure that New York City, and all of America, remembers exactly what Islam did on September 11, 2001.
