On August 24, 2019 at approximately 0150 hours, plainclothes officers assigned to the Patrol Borough Bronx Anti-Crime Unit were patrolling in the vicinity of East 212 Street and Holland Avenue within the confines of the 47 Precinct in Bronx.
The officers, who were deployed to the area in response to two earlier shootings, observed four males standing next to an unoccupied four door sedan that was parked in front of 3542 Holland Avenue. After observing one of the individuals throw an object under the sedan, the officers stopped their unmarked police car and attempted to engage the group. As they were being approached by the officers, two of the individuals fled into 3542 Holland Avenue, while the other two stayed at the location and were immediately taken into custody without incident. The officers pursued the other two individuals into the location, which was occupied by eighteen people.
The officers secured the location and called for additional units to respond. Upon their arrival, the officers detained all eighteen people inside the location–including the two males that fled from outside.
Pursuant to the investigation, one handgun was recovered from under the sedan and three handguns and one shotgun were recovered from inside the location, as well as a large quantity of alleged marijuana.
A total of eighteen adult males and two adult females were arrested in regard to the incident. All of the individuals were charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2 and the occupants of the apartment were also charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.
The following weapons were recovered:
- Remington shotgun
- High-Point 9 mm handgun
