Baseball is not the only game in Bronx.
The borough’s Van Cordlandt Park is a haven for the British sport of cricket.
On Sunday, the park’s 10 cricket fields reopened after a three-year, $13 million renovation.
City officials say the new cricket complex is the largest in the U.S. for the sport.
Cricket has some similarities to baseball. It is particularly popular among immigrant communities from Caribbean nations and South Asia.
The renovation work included the installation of new irrigation and drainage systems.
Government officials from Jamaica, Britain, Trinidad, Tobago and other countries attended the opening ceremony on Sunday.
