Update On The NYPD Response To The Coronavirus Outbreak

Sick Report Daily Update

On Sunday, May 17, 2020, 1,045 uniformed members of the NYPD were on sick report which accounts for 2.90% of the Department’s uniformed workforce. That is down from a high of 19.80%. To date, 5,648 members of the NYPD have tested positive for coronavirus.

As of today, Sunday, May 17, 2020, 5,457 members of the NYPD have returned to work full duty after recovering from a positive test for the coronavirus and 111 uniformed members plus 38 civilian members are still out sick diagnosed with coronavirus.

Let us remember and pray for the 41 members of the service that have died due to coronavirus-related illness.

Citywide Patrols

Officers continue to visit restaurants, bars, supermarkets, salons and public spaces to remind individuals of the ban on congregating in public spaces and to practice social distancing.

Between 08:00 a.m., Saturday, May 16, 2020 and 08:00 a.m., Sunday, May 17 2020:

  • NYPD officers visited 2,849 supermarkets and pharmacies of which 1,193 were closed.
  • NYPD officers visited 6,403 bars and restaurants of which 4,893 were closed. 
  • NYPD officers visited 1,260 public places of which 866 were closed. 
  • NYPD officers visited 2,738 personal care facilities of which 2,738 were closed. 

Social Distancing Enforcement

On May 16, 2020, there were seven summonses issued in regard to social distancing enforcement.
