In an effort to boost STEM education in the Bronx, Governor Kathy Hochul has generously contributed $1 million to the $1 million previously secured by Assemblymember Landon Dais in STEM grants for local public schools in the Bronx. Taft High School will be granted $250,000 of this funding as well, in addition to the other elementary schools and middle schools who have been awarded $200,000. The check presentation will take place at Taft High School on Monday, June 24th at 9am and will be attended by Assemblyman Landon Dais (AD77), and the principals, students, and teachers of the High School. By giving students the necessary resources to thrive in an increasingly technological world, this shows a shared commitment of the city and state to fostering educational excellence and innovation in the Bronx which will promote college readiness for high school students in District 9, starting with Taft High school.

“Every kid deserves a high-quality education and I am working with my partners in the Legislature to make record investments in public schools across New York. I am proud to be working in partnership with Assemblyman Dais to secure funding for STEM education in his district and will continue our joint efforts to secure a better future for all of New York’s kids,” said Governor Kathy Hochul.

Each of the following schools will receive funding from the allocation to bolster their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) programs:

“We aim to give every child the opportunity to pursue their dreams, no matter what that pathway looks like. Whether through traditional or vocational opportunities, every child should get a chance at a holistic education,” said Assemblymember Landon Dais. “With the creation of these new STEM labs, we hope to provide the next generation with the tools and knowledge to build a better future for themselves, their families, and their communities at large. These grants will go toward upgrading facilities and bringing in new equipment for our young scholars. We thank the speaker for his leadership and ongoing commitment to the children of the Bronx and are excited to see what the future holds for this next generation of STEM professionals.”
