Curatio HCS, a home care provider dedicated to serving underserved communities in Bronx and Upper Manhattan, today took home the $15,000 grand prize in the New York Public Library’s third annual StartUP! Business Plan Competition.
Curatio HCS develops technology targeted at nurses aides.
The company plans to create a series of videos to bridge the gap between the highly educated nurses and those they depend on to implement much of the actual work.
Samuel, began his training as a nurse in 1991, and after a brief stint in law school returned to caring for those unable to leave their homes.
Samuel told the Business Journal that winning the award is “huge,” because most lenders expect a two-year track record, and this will allow his company to fulfill all its legal and licensing requirements in anticipation of a full launch.
